Sponsors rubbed shoulders with shortlisted finalists as the countdown to this year’s Nottingham Post Business Awards moved to the Alea Casino.
A champagne and canapes reception at the Nottingham casino was the first time that all the 2019 finalists and sponsors had been together, in the same room.
The next time will be on awards night proper, at the East Midlands Conference Centre, on Wednesday, May 22.
The editor of the Post, Mike Sassi, told reception guests that organisers received more than 175 nominations
across 15 categories, for the 2019 awards.
“That’s almost 20 percent more than last year,” he said. “People have obviously got plenty to shout about!
“What’s more, competition was strong. “If you’ve made it on to one of the awards shortlists, then you’ve done
very well indeed.”
Six local businesses have been shortlisted in two separate categories.
They are Air IT, Clearmark Solutions, Peaky Digital, Retail Assist, Rothera Sharp and SDL Group.
There are also several new nominees. For example, in the prestigious Company of the Year category, Nottingham’s
My HR Hub is shortlisted – less than a year after its founder Rebecca Bull was sole trader of the year in The Post’s
Women in Business Awards.
Also shortlisted is another Nottingham- based winner of national awards, ENSEK, which creates software for energy companies.
And the third contender is property services company SDL Group, which is quietly doing good business from its base in Chilwell.
Next month’s awards evening will be hosted by comedian and TV celebrity Mark Dolan, and international badminton star, turned awards presenter Gail Emms.
