Nominations for this year’s Nottingham Post Business Awards will close in just over a month in what is already shaping up to be one of the best events to date.

And, even more businesses are coming on board to support the awards as category sponsors. One of the world’s largest banks, HSBC are giving their backing to the ‘Family Business of the Year.’ This award recognises a family business who has sustained their success over a number of years while maintaining their family values.

HSBC support over one million businesses in the UK and serve 37 million customers worldwide. Committed to supporting regional businesses, they have contributed over £34bn to SMEs in the UK many of which have been family businesses, making their sponsorship of this category extremely fitting.

Elliott Watts is the Business Development Director at HSBC and he explained why they chose to come on board as sponsors of this particular category.

“We believe that family businesses are a lifeblood to the UK economy, with many passing on a successful legacy through the generations. We wish to recognise the diversity across the county, and also celebrate the outstanding contributions made by the shortlisted businesses, in their respective industries.”

HSBC contribute to the local business community in a number of ways as Elliott highlighted.

“Nottinghamshire has a proud heritage of being a heartland for business success and innovation. As a Bank, we believe that building great relationships is of paramount importance, so our team of Relationship Managers are focused on understanding the needs of our customers, allowing them to tailor bespoke banking arrangements which can help business owners achieve their ambitions.”

The ’Family Business Award’ is just one of 15 awards that will be handed out during the evening with companies of all sizes and from a number of sectors celebrated.

Taking place on the 22 May, the awards’ ceremony will get underway at the East Midlands Conference Centre in the city.

Nominations for the awards close on 15 February when all applications will be sent to judges to begin their deliberations. Once the judges’ decisions have been made, the finalists will be announced before the ceremony takes place.
